Sia Tributes Orlando Victims in New Music Video

On Monday, September 5th, Sia premiered the music video for her latest single, “The Greatest.” The visual tributes the 49 lives that were lost during the Orlando shooting which took place at Pulse Nightclub earlier this summer on the morning of June 12th.

The video incorporates a large crowd of dancers–49 to be exact. It begins with the hashtag, #WeAreYourChildren. A few frames later, 13-year-old Maddie Ziegler, who plays the lead dancer, will be seen with rainbow paint under her eyes almost as if she is symbolically crying rainbow tears to sympathize with the gay community…or with humanity for that matter.

The video concludes with the 49 dancers moving at an energetic, rapid tempo shortly before falling to the ground as they suddenly appear to be lifeless.

Sia – “The Greatest”

Directed by Sia and Daniel Askill, this video was really well done and definitely touches a soft spot as it tributes the Orlando victims. Sia offers strength to the community as she sings lyrics such as “don’t give up” and “I got stamina” as the dancers give an energetic and heartfelt performance. Well done!
