If you haven’t heard by now, Frank Ocean has released a 45-minute visual album, Endless, exclusively on Apple Music. As of now I haven’t been able to check it out because I’m not a member of Apple Music, however it appears that the visual takes place in a warehouse type of structure with lots of open space and different objects placed around the perimeter of the room.
It has been very clear that Ocean has been taking somewhat of an artistic and unconventional route with the marketing of his new material. Maybe it’s because I haven’t seen the visual as of yet, but I still remain a bit unclear on the overall “theme” of this project. According to Rolling Stone, Ocean will be releasing Boys Don’t Cry, his sophomore album, separately over the weekend from the visual project.
I’m curious to know if the projects are completely unrelated, or if they somehow connect and are part of a larger picture.
Regardless, the marketing and the anticipation of this new project has been super entertaining—and a bit “endless.”
