Your favorite character, Jamal from the hit series “Empire” on Fox, is not only shaking things up on screen, but he is also making BIG moves in his real life.
Entertainment Weekly reported earlier this week that Jussie Smollett has recently signed a major record deal with Columbia Records! Not only will he be portraying an openly-gay recording artist on the show, but apparently it’ll be translating into reality sooner than you may think.
When asked if his new music will have anything to do with “Empire,” Jussie stated:
“It’s going to be a whole different thing. Now, the Empire family will still have something to do with it. I would love for Terrence to come and oversee the production of all of the music. And I would love for Timbaland to come on and Jim Beanz. We’ve all talked and they’re all down to work on it.”
Looking back a few years ago to Jussie starred in Patrick Ian Polk’s “The Skinny,” it’s amazing to see how his career has blossomed since then–especially being that he is openly-gay and getting so much positive attention from the black community. Congrats to Jussie on his success and we will definitely be watching!
