In 2017, celebrities who “come out” is not as big news as it once was. However, it’s still news and there’s a reason for it. Big names who come out as gay, bisexual…etc, give inspiration to those who are a part of a younger generation (and even an older generation) and who struggle with the idea of being more comfortable with their sexuality. Think about that time when you were 16 years old and felt like the world was against you simply because you were attracted to the same sex.
Now I’ll be honest, I had no idea who Taylor Bennett was before today. He’s at 100,000 followers on Instagram so he definitely has a strong following. Taylor Bennett is the younger brother of Chance the Rapper. The Chicago native will be celebrating his 21st birthday tomorrow and he wants to bring the new year in with a fresh start.
Earlier today, he revealed something that he’s been hiding from his fans. “I do recognize myself as a bisexual male.” Those were his exact words. Read the rest of what he had to say below:
Hopefully Mr. Bennett is able to help others by him coming out. My first thought—I wonder how his family feels? I would think that he had the conversation with them before releasing the tweet…or maybe not. Coming out is hard, and an easy way to nip it in the bud is to send a quick tweet. Hell, if there were a such thing as Twitter when I was in high school, the idea of coming out through a simple tweet wouldn’t seem like such a bad idea.
Aside from being known as Chance the Rapper’s little brother, Taylor Bennett also does his thing on the music tip. Check him out below!
