BET to Premiere a Documentary based on the LGBT Community and the Black Church

BET is set to release a documentary style movie called, “Holler if You Hear Me: Black and Gay in the Church,” which speaks about the LGBT community and their presence in the black church. I’m starting to notice that BET is starting to “come around” gradually regarding the same-gender-loving community.

For example: this year at the BET Music Awards, Laverne Cox sat front row with her date, B. Scott. This happened two years after BET was sued by B. Scott for discriminating against his decision to present himself in women’s clothing.

So yes, BET seems to be making progress. However, my only question is:

Is it genuine, or are they just starting to see the value in the “gay dollar?”

Regardless of whatever the reason may be, it’s great to see more positive imagery of the community being placed on a larger platform.
