Memorial Day Weekend is one of the BIGGEST weekends of the year! It marks the unofficial start of summer. There are plenty of popular events taking place this weekend including a few popular Pride events.
These celebrations are jam packed with visitors from all over the country. The more people, the more fun! This is true, however we must still be careful and responsible during these high volume events. We want to bring in the summer with a bang, but we also want to be SAFE at the same time.
Here are 5 tips for being safe during these Pride events:
1. TRAVEL WITH FRIENDS
I’ll be honest with you–70% of the time when I hang out, I do it solo dolo. Personally, I’m fairly independent and like moving at my own speed with no setbacks. However, during an event where there are going to be thousands of people in attendance, it may be best to play it safe and travel with a friend or two.
I would especially recommend this to you guys who may be a bit younger and may not have as much experience in the “scene” or hanging out by yourself. When you travel with friends, you’ll have the comfort of knowing that there is always going to be someone around who has your back!
2. MAKE SURE YOUR CELL PHONE IS ALWAYS CHARGED
Never leave the hotel room without a full charge. It’s not a good idea to be out in the middle of the night with a useless, uncharged phone where nobody can get in touch with you.
Recommendation: Purchase a portable charger and always keep that charged as well.
3. DON’T LEAVE YOUR ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES UNATTENDED
Not everyone has good intentions. In a perfect world we may like to assume that, but that is simply not the case. Always carry your drink with you, even when you have to use the restroom. If you are there with a friend, of course they can watch your drink for you.
4. TAKE ADVANTAGE OF PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION
Don’t drink and drive!!! In 2015, there are plenty of transportation options to help you to avoid getting behind the wheel while drunk.
Uber, Taxi’s, Shuttle’s, Bus…etc.
5. MONITOR YOUR ALCOHOL CONSUMPTION WHEN YOU’RE NEAR THE POOL OR BEACH
It’s okay to drink; I mean lets face it, alcohol does make things a little more fun. Just remember to drink responsibly. This is especially true when you are cooling it in South Beach, or chilling by your hotel pool.
With all that being said, I hope you guys have a FANTASTIC 2015 Memorial Day Weekend!!!!
